Logical Reasoning Methodology
Before taking a Blueprint LSAT class in California or elsewhere, you’ll probably want to know why we have such great results with our courses. The lynch pin of the class is our curriculum, which has helped countless students increase their LSAT scores. The following is a description of the Blueprint logical reasoning curriculum.
Logical Reasoning: Prompt First
The Blueprint approach to logical reasoning begins with reading the question prompt first. By reading the prompt before the paragraph of information, students will know what they are looking for as they read. Many of our students in our California classes report this strategy is helpful when tackling the LSAT.
Question Classification
In addition, Blueprint has classified every logical reasoning question. In our California LSAT classes and elsewhere, students can classify every question according to the prompt. Once the question is classified, there is a Blueprint method for every type of question that students can follow to get to the correct answer. Thus does every logical reasoning LSAT question have a step-by-step method that accompanies it. Once the approach is understood, our California LSAT students practice on real LSAT questions in the books until they can apply it correctly and consistently.
Homework
Because the LSAT is timed, Blueprint recognizes that it is not enough to be able to answer a logical reasoning LSAT question correctly; students need to be able answer it quickly as well. For this reason, our LSAT classes in California and elsewhere are organized so students learn the methods in class but are given a great deal of real LSAT practice questions as homework. As we tell our California LSAT students: correct repetition is the key to being able to answer questions quickly and accurately.
Lessons
In addition, we often hear from our California LSAT students that they like the way the curriculum is organized. The first lessons introduce the Blueprint methods while the final lessons are devoted entirely to review. This enables our LSAT students in California and elsewhere to learn the methods first, practice them in the homework, then review them by practicing high level LSAT at the end of the course.
Practice Tests
Finally, the Blueprint curriculum includes practice LSATs throughout the course. This is to give our LSAT students in California and elsewhere practice on real tests before they take the exam. Taking practice tests allows students to:
1.Get a sense of their LSAT score. 2.Build stamina by practicing for the approximately three hour LSAT. 3.Practice applying the methods in a timed environment.
Blueprint LSAT students in California and elsewhere are thus well prepared for logical reasoning on test day. They know to read the prompt first, classify the question, and follow a step-by-step approach to the question based on its classification—all reinforced through homework and practice exams. This approach to the test has allowed thousands of Blueprint students in California to score well on the LSAT.
